About Us

Our Origin Story

The Xylem SA Trust was established with a simple ambition: to contribute meaningfully to South Africa’s development by strengthening the systems that sustain life – water, education, and opportunity. From the very beginning, this ambition was made possible by the founding support of Xylem Inc., a global leader in water technology. As a co-founder of the Trust, Xylem Inc. brought not only financial investment but a deep well of experience, a culture of innovation, and a commitment to solving water challenges through collaboration and impact. This partnership was about catalyzing a local response to local needs—grounded in South African realities but inspired by global thinking. The Xylem SA Trust was formed to act independently, guided by trustees and local stakeholders, advancing water security, investing in youth, and building the capacity of communities to thrive. As our programmes have evolved—from early learning infrastructure to technical skills training and higher education access—the founding ethos continues to guide us. Xylem Inc.’s enduring partnership is more than historic; it is active and dynamic in the way we think, fund, collaborate, and measure success. Today, as the Xylem SA Trust walks alongside learners, educators, artisans, and innovators across the country, we do so with the legacy of that founding partnership in hand—and the responsibility to carry it forward, responsibly and with integrity.

Xylem SA Trust

Who are we?

The Xylem SA Trust is a South African social impact partner focused on advancing water security, educational access, and practical skills development. We work alongside communities, educators, and innovators to strengthen the systems that support South Africa’s future. We don’t claim to be the solution—but we’re committed to being part of it.

Why We Exist

South Africa has no shortage of potential. What it needs is scaffolding—foundations for young learners, bridges into higher education, and pathways into practical, skilled work. That’s where we contribute: offering the kind of support that unlocks what’s already there.

How We Work ?

We build through the line—from early learning centres to bursary support and technical skills training. Our role is to fortify what’s working, fill in the gaps where needed, and stand behind those shaping the next generation of water stewards and STEM professionals.
